Here's a revised patch (based on something I brought up earlier) that converts periodic over to an rc.subr-like paradigm. This can be directly applied to HEAD; you will need to backport r231849 first if you want to apply the patch to 9-STABLE, etc (the change wasn't MFCed -- not sure why). Thanks! -Garrett
