As far as I can tell: - 4.8 is vastly preferable for compatibility with services from modern versions of Windows … and (personally) nearly all servers that I'm _required_ to use could not be used with Dolphin (and so on) with samba47. TIA ---- For now I have this in my /usr/local/etc/poudriere.d/make.conf DEFAULT_VERSIONS+= samba=4.8 – which is effective, but (of course) some of the associated builds can be terribly time-consuming.
