On the keystroke working, I expect that it's a funciton of having
ACPI working.  There are many things on my laptop that seem to depend
on ACPI.  Being able to hot-swap the DVD drive, for instance, only
works when ACPI is working.  You might want to join my D800 list
(dell-D800_at_eicat.ca) ... we're not that active, but this is the type
of thing we've been hashing out.

I've done some considerable work on the D800's ACPI code ... and
you'll find references to that there.

I suppose my question boils down to whether or not unloading the
driver works (not all do).  My PCM device (which is an ICH-4) will
survive a suspend, but it won't survive a load/unload of the driver.
