The following companies have SATA RAID controllers that work well with 
FreeBSD.  Most of these companies also have staff that actively work on
FreeBSD drivers and apps, and are thus motivated to help people with
problems:

Areca
LSI
HP (CISS)
Adaptec
Highpoint
