So it's just about merging to 8-stable. I made a diff between -current and 8-stable, and there are a lot of differences. Instead of merging just the entries for the jails, it would be better to merge nearly everything. The problem is that this requires a lot of testing (delete old files, installworld, check if files reappear -> need to be removed from the list to remove with delete-old/-libs) and the libs need to be checked for the correct version number too. Anyone out there willing to take the stuff in /usr/src/tools/build/mk/OptionalObsoleteFiles.inc from current for his favourite WITHOUT_xxx option and test it in the above described way? I do not have the resources (time/machine) to do it, but I would be willing to commit tested parts.
